Making The Strange Familiar

A one-of-a-kind evening, dedicated to making the invisible visible.

Manchester Art Gallery
Thursday 2 March 2017, 5.30pm–8pm

Launching the 2017 Wonder Women festival, Instigate Arts takes over Manchester Art Gallery again for a special one-night-only event inspired by the exhibition Strange and Familiar: Britain as Revealed by International Photographers, a portrait of modern Britain as seen through the lens of international photographers and curated by the documentary photographer Martin Parr.

This is a one-of-a-kind evening, dedicated to making the invisible visible. The gallery spaces will be handed over to experimental and unsung artists, musicians and performers who will create bold, live-art events in response to the images and what they say about the social, cultural and political identity of women in 2017.

Curated by Instigate Arts.

The artists, musicians and performers include:

Lindsey Bull
Phantom Chips
MiKi Christi
Victoria Rose Cookson
Stefanie Fetterman
Another Adele
Aja Ireland

plus more tbc

A collection will be taken on the night in aid of MASH: Manchester Action on Street Health
