Join tour guide John Ward to discover the Five Ways to Wellbeing and the secrets behind our paintings.

Here John reflects on the theme of Connect through the painting Prince Arthur and Hubert;

Moral choices can influence the ways in which we connect with one another and we are often left to reflect upon precisely where our duty really lies.  In the painting ‘Prince Arthur and Hubert’ we are presented with a scene from Shakespeare’s King John in which the young prince’s death has been ordered by the king. The dramatic interplay between the two characters is enormously powerful. Does Hubert preserve his own safety by carrying out such a monstrous instruction? Or does he instead listen to his own intuitive sense of right and wrong?

Everyone welcome.
