That was then, this is now

Make a 3 minute audio recording sharing your thoughts and experiences in response to Shirley Baker's photographs

Manchester Art Gallery
Saturday 22 July 2017, 10.30am–4.30pm

From 1961 – 1981 photographer Shirley Baker documented what she saw as the needless destruction of working class communities. The exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery specifically focuses on her depictions of the urban clearance programmes of inner city Manchester and Salford.

Add your thoughts  or experiences to the exhibition audio guide

Come on your own, with a friend, relative or younger family member to select a Shirley Baker photograph and make a 3 minute audio recording sharing your thoughts and experiences. Your recording may contribute to a second version of our exhibition audio guide launching on 29 July.

I hope, by bridging time through the magic of photography, a connection has been made with a past that should not be forgotten
