The rapidly developing, interconnected cityscapes of Manchester and Salford were painted by both Lowry and Valette in their distinctive styles during the early to mid twentieth century.
Lowry attended life-drawing classes taught by Valette, who became a strong influence on his work. Both artists painted scenes of industry in the North West of England.
Join our volunteer guide Lindsay for a tour of Lowry and Valette’s work.
This tour will be filmed by Sky Arts for the programme Fake! The Great Masterpiece Challenge. Click here for more information.
