Trans Vegas comes to the gallery
Manchester Art Gallery
Sunday 1 July 2018, 3pm–5pm
Trans Creative have been working with young trans people from Manchester, Salford, Rochdale and Wigan helping them to tell their own stories.
The opening event of Trans Vegas will give a voice to young trans people in Greater Manchester and see them guide visitors through the gallery in a family friendly event. Building on last year’s trans tour of the gallery this event hopes to support young trans people to feel more confident and safer sharing their stories and growing up in Greater Manchester.
This event is a key part of the work Trans Creative are doing to empower trans people to have a voice and be a positive presence in the city.
Questions we will be exploring
What’s been your experience of being young and trans good and not so good?
If you had a minute to make the world a better safer happier creative place for trans people what would you say?
Want to get involved?
We are looking for young trans and non binary young people (under 25) to take part in the opening event of Trans Vegas on Sunday 1st July.
We’ll be doing a young trans tour of the gallery using the art and the space as a backdrop to talk about what’s going on for you. There’ll also be music and an opportunity to meet up and hear each other and start working together. Hopefully this will the beginning of other projects together.
We’ll be meeting up on the evening 28th June to get the event together and then again on the day, if you’re interested and would like to know more or get involved in planning please get in touch.
