The Portrait Youth project invites diverse groups of young people from Greater Manchester to take part in workshops that explore the communication of identity through styling and dress. These images are from a ‘wear your identity’ workshop with a group of young people with autism. Fashion and image play an important role in how young people articulate their sense of self, particularly when verbal communication may be compromised.
Creative workshops for autistic children
Open doors is a monthly creative session at Manchester Art Gallery for children with autism and their families. Each month we explore different themes and ideas with artists and volunteers. For more details ask a member of our Visitor Services Team or the Open doors page here.
