Older people make up a large part of the gallery’s audience and we value the input and the support they give to the gallery. Manchester Art Gallery is an active member of the Age Friendly Manchester Cultural Offer consortium and runs a range of programmes in the gallery and residential settings enabling older people and staff to connect, be creative and enjoy our collections and exhibitions.
We have three strands to our Age Friendly programme
• Each year a group of older Manchester residents take over the gallery and co-curate a Thursday late. Find out more by viewing the 2016 Age Friendly late film below. Keep an eye out for the next one is Summer 2017.
• We deliver targeted work in residential and community settings, working with small groups of older helping people make connections with our exhibitions and collections.
• We have a varied adult regular programme offering opportunities to talk, make and de-stress using our exhibitions as a starting point. See here for more information about our regular adult programme.
