Creative writing workshop for secondary pupils at Manchester Art Gallery

Creative Writing

Working with one artwork, we help you to read visual images and get words and ideas flowing. These explorations in creative reading and writing allow you to move ideas into a range of varied, compelling and unique written responses.

Critical thinking

Engage critically with our exhibitions through our object dialogue box – a unique resource containing a bizarre, hybrid collection of objects. Use these to make associations, discover meanings, create dialogues and form personal interpretations.

Mark Making

Move from historical to contemporary artworks and discover how artists represent people, identity and the environment. Line, shape, form, composition and texture reveal artistic layers, encouraging experimentation in print making

Photography

Work with a visiting photographer to question, experiment and produce unique photographic responses. Learn to produce photograms by capturing objects and manipulating mixed media in a residency that can be adapted to different themes.

Years: 7 – 13
Duration: Full school day
Cost: £270 a day

Self Guided Visits

Teachers are welcome to bring their classes to the gallery for self directed visits, there is always something new to discover and an inspiring way to extend your curriculum.
