How to get here
By Metrolink tram
St Peter’s Square or Market Street stations are the nearest Metrolink stations. Both are on the Altrincham and Eccles lines.
While St. Peter’s Square is being redeveloped, nearest bus stops are in Piccadilly Gardens or on Princess Street. A map of nearest bus stops can be found here.
To Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Victoria stations. Take the Metrolink from Victoria or Piccadilly (Altrincham or Eccles direction) to Mosley Street or St Peter’s Square.
Manchester is ringed by the M60, linking to the UK’s extensive motorway network. Follow signs to the city centre. Car parking is available at the NCP car parks on Chepstow Street, Faulkner Street or Sackville Street. All are within five minutes of the gallery. The nearest disabled parking is on Nicholas Street or Princess Street, approximately 50m from the main entrance.
The coach drop off point is at the groups’ entrance on Princess Street.

With three floors, 21 rooms and over 2,000 items on display spanning over six centuries you may want some guidance on where to start. Free family backpacks are available for family groups with children aged between seven and 12. Find out more about visiting with your family here.
Our formal learning team develops and manages an extensive education programme for nurseries, schools, colleges and universities.
We are committed to allowing photography for personal and social media use. We only ask that visitors don’t take a photograph if it is a lenders explicit wish. There will be clear signs indicating this whenever that is the case.
Please note: To protect our artworks, we do not allow flash photography in the galleries. If you would like a souvenir image of an artwork in the gallery, why not check out the wide range of postcards and prints in our shop or buy prints from our collection from art.com.
