Eric Gill 1882 - 1940

Summary

Crucifixion. An emaciated male figure with a halo (inscribed with letters I N R I back to front) is wearing a loin cloth and is nailed to a cross through his hands and feet. The cross bar is clearly visible behind his head and hands and the only part of the vertical bar that can be seen is at the bottom by his feet. His head is down and turned to the left. There is a gash in his left rib which spurts out blood into a chalice on the left of the figure. To the right of the figure is an circle with a cross.
