Summary

Night time scene with a body being held horizontally by five figures using a cloth to support it. Tomb in the foreground to the right. A cloaked figure to the right bows their head and another figure to the right foreground holds the folds of the cloth. A figure in the background holds a stick and a lantern to shed light on the scene. Trees to the right and a ladder leant against the cliff in the foreground to the left. In the background to left figures mounted on horses and holding long sticks ride across a bridge to the right. Hills in background with walled section and buildings at the top of the hill with brightly lit windows. A night scene with figures moving Christ's body into a cave. Claughton Pellew was a member of The Society of Artist Print-Makers established to encourage the production of original prints in any medium. From an edition of 35.
