The Moor
Summary
Landscape with a figure and a dog walking along a path to the left of the foreground while livestock graze in a field to the right of the foreground. Diagonal lines suggestive of wind and rain. The weather in this scene is particularly striking as there is heavy rain sweeping diagonally from left to right and represented by strong white lines which stand out against the greyness of the rest of the composition. The weather appears to be so inclement that the horizon line is barely discernible and the land seems to run into the sky with no discernible features. However, out in this weather is a figure with a dog depicted walking into the rain following the path which runs through the composition from the bottom left hand corner to the right middle ground. Other than the figure and dog there is only livestock out grazing in the field.
