Little Houses

Gwendolen Raverat 1885 - 1957

Summary

In the middle ground, to the left, are three small houses in a row. Although the central house is larger than the two either side of it, the houses are all quite uniform with long sloping rooves, square windows and a chimney at the peak of the roof. In front of the houses, in the foreground, are fields, the left hand field being strongly highlighted whilst the fields to the right are more shadowed. On the right hand side there are two trees, one in the foreground and another in the middle ground, with their bare branches breaking up the space of the sky.
