Mountains
Summary
This mountainous landscape is made interesting through the fine, precise linework which allows for the different rock faces to be shown. By varying the density and direction of the linework different textures and where the light falls is shown making the mountains more distinct. The strong linework allows for the angularity and harshness of the landscape to be depicted. Over two thirds of the composition is shown to be mountains as the view point places the viewer within the mountains, and the sky, when it is glimpsed, is shown to be slightly cloudy through horizontal linework. In the foreground there is a mountain ridge that draws the eye towards the largest peak which is just left of centre in the distance. Slightly to the right, behind this peak is another slightly smaller and less steep mountain. There are then further ridges visible running into the distance beyond the frame of the print.
