Summary
This print shows a portrait of an older man who is seated with his body turned slightly away from the viewer towards the right. Whilst his body is partially turned the mans face appears completely in profile and is cast in shadow as the light appears to be falling from the left hand side. He has thinning hair and he appears to be looking slightly downwards towards the bottom right hand corner. His hands are held clasped in his lap and he is wearing a suit and tie. More attention has been given to his face and hands as these hold the most expressive potential in a portrait where as his torso and suit is suggested through very minimal, loose lineworks to create a basic outline.
