Paysage dan la Gout Italien (Landscape in the Italian Style) about 1912 Andre Derain 1880-1954 Drypoint The deep, velvety black lines of this print are characteristic of drypoint. The heavier and darker lines have been created by cutting up a deep groove to throw up a large burr. Hatched and cross-hatched lines have been used to give solidarity to the shape of the trees and mountains, rather than to create shades and tones. Purchased 1946.100
