Te Po, The God of the Night 1921 Paul gaughin 1848-1903 Woodcut This print is from the Na Noa suite of ten woodcuts, illustrating Gaughins' account of his days in Tahiti. The knots and grain possibly inspired the composition, and a range of marks have been made: thick gouging on the shroud appears like veins where part of the surface remains, and light scratches make a feature of the grain.
