Tragala Perro (Swallow it, Dog)

Francisco Goya Y Lucientes 1746 - 1828

Summary

A group of figures surround a man on his knees, cowed down and with his hands clasped together in appeal. He is looking to the left and has a small bundle tied around his neck. Approaching from the left is a man wearing white monk robes and carrying a large syringe. To the right is a figure holding a candle. Behind these figures is a crowd of other characters; featuring two taller figures at the back of the crowd, one wearing cuckold's horns. In the background, to the left, a shadowy figure is watching over the whole proceedings.
