Summary

A portrait of a middle aged man in an ornate frame. The subject is facing to the right with his head turned to face the viewer. He wears a long curly wig. The base of the frame is decorated with an image of a man standing at a smoking bowl with a boy to the right using a large mortar and pestle. There is a snake wound around a stick to the left and a lyre with books to the right. The frame is inscribed "SR SAMUEL GARTH M.D.".
