A Girl Carrying A Child

Leonardo Vinci, da (after)

Summary

A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci. This is an outline sketch of a girl carrying a child. Long, curving lines extend from the girl's waist to her ankle, perhaps part of a skirt. Three small curled line motifs are drawn on the left hand side of the page. This drawing is on the same sheet as 1933.394. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "No. 2 LEONARDO DA VINCI A GIRL CARRYING A CHILD British Museum, 1913-6-17-2. From the H. S. Wilcocks Collection. Pen and ink; a slight sketch with the lead point in right upper corner; blind lines indented with the stylus. 12.3 x 8.7 cm. (4 7/8 x 3 3/8 in.). A slighter sketch than No. 1, but equally characteristic of Leonardo's early Florentine period. [Burlington Magazine, August 1913; xxiii. 264.] C. D."
