Man Holding Two Fishes

John Ruskin 1819 - 1900

Summary

A pencil drawing on wood of what looks like a stone carving of a man with his hand resting on two fishes. Ink and watercolour schematic drawing on wood block of two mountain ridges/trenches. According to 1904 exhibition catalogue of 'Ruskin Exhibition' (Manchester City Art Gallery) it was one of a number intended for Modern Painters but later cancelled, wood engraving not being adequate to reproduce a wash drawing.
