Summary

Cream silk satin over coarse white linen, lined with white linen. A curved front section tapers to a point at front waist - ornamental stitching above the waist at centre front imitates cross-lacing. Stiffened throughout with narrow strips of whalebone, with wider lengths at the top edge centre front (busk) and down the back. Open down centre back with 11 holes each side for lacing and 9 boned tabs at bottom edge over each hip.
