Summary

Public: Deep bowl, bone china, iridescent lustre over mottled blue ground with printed gilt dragons and borders. Private: Deep bowl with curved sides and tapered footring. Exterior decorated with 'Mixed-Blue Lustre', consisting of a sponged mottled underglaze blue ground, printed and painted underglaze with two Japanese 'Celestial Dragons' and Chinese flaming 'Sacred Pearls'. Iridescent lustre applied overglaze, underglaze dragons and pearl motifs overprinted in gilt, gilt key border to rim. Interior decorated with greenish iridescent 'Mother-of-Pearl Lustre' over a pale blue ground, giving turquoise-green effect. Printed underglaze with single dragon in well and diaper border round rim, filled in with soft, dappled underglaze blue and overprinted in gilt. Gilt edges to rim and footring.
