Summary
Pink paper with a single band of painted decoration set in from the top. This band is painted white with a silver/grey border and zigzag enclosing small bunches of pink and blue flowers. The band does not run parallel to the edge, but runs nearer CF. Silver paper edge. Sticks are ivory and possibly earlier than leaf, c.1740's and possibly Chinese although probably English in a Chinoiserie style. Plain carving with rounded shoulders. Painted in gold and red and black with swallows, butterflies and goldfish amidst a latticework background (much worn). Plain ivory guards, similary painted (and worn), with tortoiseshell cloute heads. fixed metal rivet and pearl washers.
