Summary

Public: Vase, stoneware, white jasperware with classical relief decoration of festoons, acanthus leaves and lion heads in gilt. Private: Tall conical vase, tapering to foot which flares out at base. Wide neck with everted rim. Relief-moulded decoration on sides of four ribbed classical columns reaching down to foot and ending in lion's paw terminals, claws picked out in gilt. At top of each column a moulded lion's head grasping thick metal ring in its mouth, the whole painted in gilt, and positioned within thick horizontal band of intertwining gilt foliage. Gilt festoons between each column at top, narrow horizontal band of gilt wound ribbon motif near base, interrupted at columns. Foot and rim decorated with gilt relief acanthus borders.
