Summary

Turquoise fine woven straw with turquoise rayon georgette tie. Deep round crown and broad brim, sloping down slightly, all round, and narrower at the back. Wired brim. Broad piece of rayon georgette is pleated around the crown then stitched to form a large bow with long pointed ends left raw hanging down. this was possibly put on by the owner. Turquoise Petersham hatband inside. Label : "Hats by Edward Mann; Always making fashion news; Made in england" Mann designed the hats for Diana Rigg when she played Emma Peel in the Avengers in the 1960s (John Bates designed her outfits), and there is a stylish Mann hat in the Museum of Bath which won Dress of the Year, 1967 with a trouser suit by David Bond.
