Summary

A genre painting depicting three children on the banks of a river, tending to a toy boat. The young boy sits in the grass, setting the rigging on his boat, the young girl sits to the right watching him. A second girl with a white bonnet, clothes in earth tones, and bare feet stands to the right looking at the scene. In the background to the right the river meanders along the meadow edge, and a small cottage visible on opposite bank.
