Summary

A forest scene, looking down the winding length of a large stream. Overhanging trees and large rocks line the steep river banks, and a hill rises in the background. The light, Autumnal colours get progressively darker from the left to right of the canvas, and are set against a clouded blue sky. On the right hand side of the stream in the foreground, three cows stop to drink. On the left hand side, goats relax on the rocks and a man has dismounted his horse to fish.
