Summary

Black satin and embroidery. Bodice mounted on white silk underbodice boned on seams at back and side back, fastening down CF. Section of white silk chiffon each side to fasten across and fill-in neck of bodice. Bodice open down front and fastening across at waist to make wide V neck edged with strip of black chiffon embroidered in black silk, continuing over shoulders to form V-shaped decoration on back. Collar built up at back neck. Sleeves slashed at wrist and restitched round chiffon fill-in to give impression of undersleeve and cuff. Cuff and lower sleeve trimmed with black silk embroidery. Satin ribbon inside waist fastening CB. Skirt covered with three separate extra sections gathered on waist under black satin waistband fastening across front under pleated bow. Extra panel of embroidery on chiffon at hem. Labelled; G Worth Paris. Donated via Stella Mary Newton and designated by the donor as part of The Eleanora Wilbourne collection.
