Summary

Public: A shield shaped box with concave sides, chased mount and a hinged lid, enamel on metal and painted on the lid with a portrait of a youth on a brown background, the sides and bottom are painted with sprays of flowers in delicate gilt scroll borders on a white ground. Private: A shield shaped box with concave sides, rounded base, chased mount and a hinged lid. Enamel on metal and painted on the lid with a portrait of a youth in a purple coat with white lace around the neck and wearing a green cap with a feather at the side, upon a brown background bordered with very pale red and white stripes radiating out from the edge of the background to the mount. The sides are painted with sprays of flowers in delicate gilt scroll borders on a white ground. The bottom is painted with a flower in a gilt scroll border.
