Summary

An oval box with splayed sides, a plain brass mount and a hinged lid opening at the narrow end. Enamel on metal and painted on the lid with a bird flying over a nest of eggs with a tall tree curving around them, direct on a white ground. The sides of the box are pink. The inside of the lid is painted with two sailing ships on water above which is the inscription 'Hope', in front of this is a piece of clear glass painted with a woman leaning on an anchor.
