Summary

An oval box with slightly concave sides, a plain brass mount and a hinged lid with a mirror inside (perished). Enamel on metal and painted in colours on the lid with a man in a long blue coat and knee breeches having his hair pulled by a woman who stands behind him and is raising her foot as if to kick him, above this is the inscription 'Thos in Rochdale', all within a border of raised white enamel dots and gold on a dark blue ground; the body of the box is dark blue.
