Summary

Public: A pair of candlesticks with baluster stem, round base divided by flutes into six lobes and fitted with loose circular nozzles with scalloped rims. Enamel on copper and painted in colours with three landscape panels on the lobes around the base and three panels of trellis and star patterns. The upper part of the stem is painted with a landscape panel and a small panel of flowers, all within gilt scroll borders on a rose Pompadour ground adorned with floral sprays in gold and various designs in white. Private: A pair of candlesticks with baluster stem and a round base divided by flutes into six lobes and fitted with loose circular nozzles with scalloped rims, thin, plain brass mounts are fitted to the lower and upper rims and around the centre. Enamel on copper and painted in colours. Three of the lobes around the base are painted with scenes of two gentlemen and a lady in a landscape enclosed in gilt scroll borders; the other lobes are decorated with trellis pattern and stars in white within gilt scroll borders on a rose Pompadour ground. The upper part of the stem is painted with a large panel depicting a gentleman and a lady in a landscape, a small panel of flowers and a panel of trellis and stars in white all in similar gilt scroll borders, whilst the nozzles are painted with three panels of flowers. The rose ground is adorned with floral sprays in gold and various designs in white.
