Summary

Public: A circular box with fluted sides, a plain brass mount and a hinged lid modelled in the form of a curled up cat, with a metal mirror inside, enamel on metal and painted in colours; the cat as a tabby on a lavender ground and the sides with vertical red wavy lines. Private: A circular box with fluted sides, a plain brass mount and a hinged lid modelled in the form of a curled up cat, with a convex metal mirror inside (tarnished). Enamel on metal and painted in colours. On the lid the cat is painted as tabby with a white snout, pink nose and green eyes, it is curled up on a lavender ground decorated with scrolls in raised white enamel. The sides are painted with vertical red wavy lines between the fluting and with slight red scrolls around the top edge.
