Summary

Pinkand blue shot silk figured with rose design in blue. Mid 1850's dress altered in late 1860's (hooks in skirts added later). Bodice fastening CF with hooks and loops under ten gilt buttons attached by clips on wrong side to high round neck with narrow band. Loose over bust. Fitting cotton lining. Long loose sleeves, widening towards wrist, lower edge lined with orange and blue shot silk. Long strip of black net, trimmed with two rows of beaded black lace and edged with red and blue silk fringe, passing across back and over shoulders with loose ends tying at CF. Sleeves edged with another fringe above between two rows of beaded lace. Skirt lined with cotton and slightly padded, fastening to left of front. Pocket in RS seam, watch pocket below waistband. Hem lined with stiffened muslin with brown and black shot twilled silk and wool facing, bound with dark red wool braid. Arrangement of short tape and buttons inside for looping skirt up. Basque : Pleated onto waistband CB, dipping to blunt point CB. Waistband fastening CF with hook and eye. Lined with white cotton. Edges faced with red and black shot silk. Bottom and front edges trimmed with beaded lace and fringe.
