'The Weary Waste of Snow'

Joseph Farquharson 1846 - 1935

Summary

A snow-covered, winter landscape of desolate hills and a small, meandering stream flowing in the foreground. To the right of the stream lies a dead sheep in the snow, with two large birds flying in towards it, one about to land. Dramatic cloudy skies can be seen above. The snow-covered hills in the background are in contrast with the illuminated sky behind. A patch of bright, gold and yellow light can be seen reflected on the water, illuminated by a bright setting sun.
