Summary

Public: An oval box with straight sides and a hinged lid within a chased ormolu mount. Enamel on metal and painted in colours on the lid with a pastoral scene and on the sides with two panels of pastoral scenes all within gilt scroll borders on a pink ground decorated with panels of trellis and dot in white and gold scrolls. Private: An oval box with straight sides and a hinged lid within a deep chased ormolu mount with scalloped edges and a rope handle. Enamel on metal and painted in colours on the lid with a panel of a pastoral scene depicting a male figure lying on grass with a female figure standing over him beside them are a dog, a cow and sheep and in the distance a river with a bridge over which a man drives a cow. The sides are painted with two panels of pastoral scenes of a man fishing and a man with a cow on a hill looking out over a landscape. All panels are within raised gilt scroll borders on a pink ground decorated with panels of trellis and dot in white and gold scrolls. There is a gold star on a white ground on the bottom.
