Summary

Jug in the form of a stylised woman's torso, comprising cylindrical skirt at foot with two vertical indentations to back and front, surmounted by narrow waisted form with two applied loop handles representing arms (one missing). Tall straight neck recessed slightly from shoulder (cup or cover in form of woman's head missing). Pale pink earthenware body showing yellow-orange through lead glaze, decorated with slip-trailed patterns in dark red and white, showing dark brown and cream. Lower body decorated with alternating brown and cream stripes, upper waisted section with wide vertical borders down back and front comprising zig-zag lines and repeated circles. Handle edged in border of brown and cream semi-circles and dotted lines, cream coloured strokes at lower terminals representing hands.
