Summary
Public: Money box, dark red, buff and white agateware, decorated with applied bird reliefs and twisted handles. Private: Elaborate money box comprising globular bowl with flat base, surmounted by tall cylindrical neck pierced with circular holes and vertical slats, topped with a conical roof pierced with circular holes. Simple pinched bird visible through slats inside cylindrical neck. Pinched bird finial to roof, from which spring four ornamental loop handles (one broken), two plain and two twisted, to form ornate crown terminal. Applied relief decoration around roof and globular bowl, of pinched clay pellets representing tiny birds in an evenly spaced row. Diagonal money slot in shoulder of bowl. Finely marbled red, buff and white earthenware body, appearing dark brown, fawn and cream through slightly pitted lead glaze.
