Malkin, Samuel (attributed) 1668 - 1741
Summary
Deep circular dish with notched rim, upper surface decorated with a relief-moulded subject of a crowned figure on horseback in right side profile, surmounting a stylised plant motif. Moulded fringed outlines filled in with dark and light red slips, with hair of figure and horse's mane indicated by light red dots. Relief-moulded initials G R positioned either side of horseman's head, suggesting figure is George I. Warm lead glaze resulting in orange and brown slip colours against a yellow ground.
