Summary

Black crepe and wool mourning day dress Bodice lined with brown striped cotton satin. Centre front fastening. Standing crepe collar. Hem bound in black corded silk. Sleeves with puff on outer edge, white cuff bands. Black petersham inner waistband fastened with two pronged metal buckle. Separate skirt of crepe lined with canvas over wool, lined with black twilled cotton. Opening at centre back. One elastic stay at inside back. Hem faced with brush braid. One pocket to left of centre back. Cape : Crepe over wool. Lined with wadded corded silk. Standing collar, trimmed with two horizontal bands of crepe and falling band of crepe lace. Centre front opening fastening to half way down. Printed label : "Edward Pretty & Co. Costume & Mantle Makers, Bury St. Edwards"
