lappet
Summary
Two lappets. Duchesse de Bruxelles (a mixed lace of both bobbin and needlepoint) with needlepoint infills of rose motifs on fine net in the style of Brussels "point de Gaze", the rest of coarser bobbin lace motifs joined with plaited brides. The lappets are of a typicially mid to late 19th century shape with a narrow panel, worn centrally on the head, with widening ends to hang over the ears, or to be pinned up on top.
