Summary

Public: Deep circular punch bowl with straight sloping sides and prominent footring. Greyish-white stoneware body decorated on the exterior with rows of impressed motifs and on the interior, around the rim, with incised border of overlapping scales and in centre of well with an incised floral motif. Private: Deep circular punch bowl with straight sloping sides and prominent footring. Exterior decorated with four evenly spaced narrow rouletted bands, between which is continuous pattern of impressed motifs in broken horizontal rows, including S-shapes, semi-circles, stars, rows of three squared dots, and groups of four dots. Rouletted bands and impressed patterns filled with cobalt blue which has bled slightly into salt-glaze. Interior incised around rim with border of overlapping scales from which are suspended small cloud shapes filled with hatching. Incised four-petalled flower head with four feathery leaves in centre of well. Border and central flower both picked out in 'scratch-blue' technique, blue of flowerhead discoloured a grey-brown. Greyish-white stoneware body.
