Summary

Public: Globular teapot with crabstock spout and handle. White salt-glazed stoneware, painted in overglaze enamels with floral sprays reserved against a turquoise-blue ground. Private: Globular teapot on circular footring, with crabstock handle and spout. Body painted in turquoise-blue, green, pink, yellow, red and black overglaze enamels with overall turquoise-blue ground painted over continuous black scrollwork, reserving two shaped cartouches outlined in yellow, one on either side. Each cartouche contains single primula stem with four flowerheads on one side, five on the other, in pink, blue, yellow and green. Handle and spout painted plain turquoise-blue, underside painted blue with patch where enamel has crawled revealing white body beneath. Flattened circular cover with concave button finial pierced through the centre, painted with two narrow cartouches outlined in yellow and containing simple floral sprays, reserved against turquoise-blue ground with black scrollwork.
