Summary

Thrown globular punch pot on broad circular footring, with tapering loop handle, crabstock spout, and turned ribbing at neck. Body painted in pink, blue, green, yellow, red, purple and black overglaze enamels with figures in a rural landscape. To left of handle, a courting couple in foreground, lady in pink seated on farmgate beside tree, with gentleman in blue to right beside her. Elderly woman in blue in background to left, landscape to right including three-storied house, stone archway amongst trees and riverbank on far right. To right of handle, a man seated on a grassy mound surrounded by water, playing bass viol beside tree to right, landscape with two houses in background. Border to neckrim of diaper ground coloured green, edged with black scroll border coloured pink. Spout touched with green spots, handle with red scrollwork. Circular shallow domed cover with button finial pierced through centre, painted with country house amongst trees, surrounded by border of green coloured diaper and black and pink scrollwork.
