Summary

Tall pear-shaped jug on turned circular footring, tapering to flared neck with sparrow beak lip and strap loop handle with pinched and flattened spur at lower terminal. Body painted in green, pink, blue, yellow, red and black overglaze enamels with Chinoiserie garden scene, comprising two figures in a garden, left figure seated beneath tall parasol, right figure standing with fan held under his arm, large coloured vases amongst flowering bushes in background to left and right. Large floral sprays either side of handle, diamond diaper border overlaid with green enamel around neckrim, edged with black scrollwork coloured in pink. Diaper and scroll border repeated inside rim.
