Summary

Pear-shaped milk jug tapering to tall cylindrical neck with sparrow beak lip. Three applied feet in the form of a paw surmounted by a lion's mask, applied strap loop handle with flattened splayed lower terminal. Shallow domed cover with Chinese kylin finial, attached to handle by metal chain linked through finial. Finely marbled blue, brown and white earthenware body, marbled clays laid in short strips giving random pattern of predominantly blue streaks, blue and brown bleeding into lead glaze.
