dessert plate

Summary

Circular dessert plate with broad deep well and flat undulating six-lobed rim. Rim relief-moulded with panels of diamond basketwork, alternately embellished with stars and groups of four spots, between six leafy heart-shaped cartouches. Cream coloured body sponged with manganese brown oxide bleeding into rich lead-glaze, resulting in mottled dark brown and cream pattern, swirled and pooled to side of plate well, cartouches picked out in green. Large unglazed patch on underside, revealing sponged brown underglaze pattern.
