Summary

Public: Globular teapot with leaf and basket-moulded handle and spout, cream coloured earthenware, with applied relief decoration of animals, trees and busts of George III and Queen Charlotte, picked out in green, brown and yellow oxides bleeding into lead glaze. Private: Globular teapot on rolled footring, with turned collar to neck, S-shaped spout with acanthus and basketweave moulding, and leaf-moulded handle with two leafy spurs along length and outward spur at lower terminal. Pale cream coloured earthenware body with applied relief decoration on each side comprising, to left of handle: crowned right side profile bust of George III, with sheep and lamb to right, two cows to left, four leafy sprays above, man in boat and two swans below; to right of handle: crowned frontal bust of Queen Charlotte, surrounded by same arrangement of leaves, animals and boat. Reliefs picked out in underglaze oxides bleeding into lead glaze, giving yellow crowns, manganese brown cows and green leafy sprays. Lower body surrounding boat and swan reliefs decorated with incised lines flooded with green lead glaze reserving white swans. Top of handle and spout rim picked out in green. Flattened circular cover with flowerhead finial in green and brown, decorated with three applied green leafy sprays, small pierced hole to one side.
