Summary

Public: Rectangular tea caddy, cream coloured earthenware, sides decorated with relief-moulded Chinoiserie scenes picked out in manganese brown, green, yellow and blue oxides bleeding into lead glaze. Private: Tall square press-moulded tea caddy, with slight rounded shoulder and narrow cylindrical neck. Sides decorated with recessed relief-moulded panels, repeated on opposite sides, comprising : Chinese woman standing before small table carrying basket of fruit, with small child in bottom right corner sitting beneath tree; Chinese man holding bamboo staff on which perches a bird, with flowering plant in bottom right corner. Shoulder relief-moulded with narrow panels of Chinese fretwork and arches. Cream coloured earthenware body decorated with underglaze oxides to give green borders to panels and manganese brown, yellow and blue details to figures. Cylindrical cover with striped blue, brown and yellow oxides to sides, applied stamped flowerhead to top, picked out in brown and yellow.
